AXL (tarantula)
AXL is a massive tarantula boss added in the Hairy and Scary update (October 2025). To summon it, revisit its terrarium in Brookhollow Park to find tarantula fur and a receipt, then cook a Poached Roach Roast (1 Roach Head, 4 Roach Parts, 3 Garden Snail Slime, 1 EverChar Coal Chunk) at any cookery.
The fight happens at Battlefield 1992, near the Mega Milk Molar in Pine Hill. AXL has no weaknesses and resists stabbing, fresh, explosive and venom damage — its weak point is its rump, exposed when you build enough stun to topple it. The fight has two phases, the second adding an unblockable dash attack. Bring a buggy to cross web-covered gaps and a snack to keep venom in check.
Rewards include the Nightstalker armor set, the Pheromone Shot mutation, AXL’s Talon and the Black Fang Greatbow.
King Dozer
King Dozer is a colossal horned lizard and the biggest boss in the Grounded series, added in the Beat the Heat update (April 14, 2026). Obsidian designed him as a “fairytale dragon” — he fires spicy projectiles, squirts spicy liquid from his eyes, and grows stronger the hotter his super-heated lair gets.
Strategy: cool the arena down to strip his buff, wear sizzle protection, and deal minty damage — his weakness. Bring a Buggy for backup. Victory grants a knight-plate armor set, a matching shield and spicy-damage weapons.
Other apex predators
The park’s top of the food chain also includes a rideable snake, a lizard and a bird — teased by Obsidian as apex predators alongside AXL. More bosses, including new Colossi, are planned for the year-two roadmap.

Bosses drop materials used to craft unique armor, weapons and furniture. Expect to fight repeatable bosses like AXL more than once — the Poached Roach Roast doesn’t despawn on failure, so you can retry immediately.
